Two Decade Ranking | #2 Matt Neatock

While the top spot is as clear as crystal, the top two spots really came down to three folks: Griff, Calderon and Matt. Each has a good argument to be one spot behind Bob, but in the end, the tiebreaker will always been a larger collection of mugs.

Through 11 seasons in this league, Neatock was a ball of inconsistency, a walking-talking contradiction of accomplishment and failure. Yes, I know that’s technically a word salad of a sentence, but it sets the tone for how Matt was in Robioland.

During those first 11 seasons, he missed the playoffs five times (third most at the time), but he also managed to win himself a pair of titles (2007, 2009) thanks to good picks, nice keepers and productive trades. Yet, through all that, he produced just four winning seasons and was sitting in the middle of the pack in winning percentage and points scored.

However, over the last five seasons, he’s become a consistent winner, except for that hiccup of a 2-11 season in 2018. Since 2014, he has four seasons with at least nine wins (regular and postseason), going a stunning 9-2 in the playoffs. He’s reached three of the last five title games, losing one by a single point (2014) and now becoming the third person in league history to earn back-to-back crowns the previous two years.

While his average finish in both the standings and points (7th) isn’t impressive, these postseason results have jettisoned him up to second place on the all-time rankings list.
