Rob’s career in Robioland consists of two halves. The first nine years in this league were pretty awful. He missed the playoffs in four of those first nine seasons, finishing above .500 just once. It was brutal, as Rob battled with Eric for king of the basement.
However, things finally took a turn in the right direction in 2011. Over the last eight years, Rob has produced not only eight straight playoff trips (tied for second longest streak), but he’s been above .500 in all eight seasons. Three times during that span, he finished 2nd in scoring, twice averaging over 1,500 and never finishing lower than 7th in points. So, no flukes.
Unfortunately for Masterson, those 61 regular season wins have meant little come playoff time. Rob is a stunningly bad in the postseason. His .235 winning percentage (4-13) is the league’s worst. He would need to win three straight championships to get back to .500 in the playoffs. He has lost in the quarterfinals five straight seasons and has lost nine of his last 10 postseason games (daring back to 2006).
On top of that misfortune, Rob is the only current league member to not produce any of the big four: league champion, runner-up, top seed or scoring crown. In fact, Rob has managed to earn a 2-seed, but he’s done that just once (2013).
