JEFF GREENBLATT
Est. 2003 & 2009
LAST SEASON
After a tough 2022, Jeff rebounded in 2023. Working the wire unlike any time in the past, Jeff won his first two games and five of his first seven, topping 1,600 twice and never dipping below 1,400 in any of those seven games. However, between weeks 8-11, the points disappeared and so did the wins, as Greenblatt dropped four straight, averaging only 1,119 points per contest. However, a three game winning streak to end the regular season put Jeff at 8-6 and back into the playoffs as the 4-seed. In the postseason, he eliminated 4-seed Calderon with a 1,100-point margin of victory, before he fell to 3-seed Michael in the semifinals.
CAREER
Based on results and overall numbers, Jeff was looked at as the third Vozzola, battling Don and Eric for the final three spots in my career rankings. This was a man who made it to the postseason in just two of his fist seven seasons in the league (as a solo artist) and didn’t win a playoff game until his ninth season in the league. Four times his squad failed to even average 1,200, which is not great.
Yet, starting in 2016, things started to change. No, he didn’t become a consistent playoff contender, but when he was good, he was really good. In 2016, Jeff earned his first and only top seed with an 11-2 record, finishing second in points scored. He took care of business in the quarterfinals and semifinals before falling to Calderon in his first title game appearance. The follow season he would win seven and reached the finals.
2018 and 2019, his teams weren’t bad, but he finished 9th in both campaigns. Apparently he was just warming up though. In 2020, Jeff produced eight wins, averaged nearly 1,500 per contest and swept through the postseason, defeating me in the finals to earn his first title game. To prove it was no fluke, the following year he again reached the finals, but this time losing to Eric.
Since that 2016, while he has missed the playoffs three times, but he’s also 5-0 in the quarterfinals, having reached the finals three times. Those three trips are tied for most in that time frame.
If he hopes to keep climbing the career rankings, then he just needs to become more consistent. He and Colby are the only two veteran teams to never make it to the playoffs in four straight seasons.
NUMBERS GAME
Jeff is 105-123 for his career. His .461 win percentage is third worse, ahead of only Eric and Don. He averages 1,298 points per contest, which is 9th in the league. His average finish in the standings is 7.56, which is 10th in the league, while is average finish in points is 7.44; also 10th.
Greenblatt has crashed the postseason in eight of his 16 seasons. That’s 50% and that’s the lowest mark in the league. Overall, he has one top seed, three trips to the finals and one championship. He is one of four people to never earn a scoring crown.
In the postseason, Jeff is 9-7 overall. His .563 win percentage is fifth best in the league. He averages 1,414 points per game, which is fourth best. He’s 5-3 in the quarterfinals, 3-2 in the semifinals and 1-2 in the finals.
