Below are the teams that you have had the most success beating again and again and again, plus your least favorite foe and everything else you need to know.
MOST COMMON OPPONENT
Robio Murray & Eric Vozzola: Don has faced both of us 31 times.
TOP THREE FAVORITE FOES
#3 Jeff Greenblatt – Don has a winning record against three current opponents and the first one up is Jeff. Don is 12-9 against Greenblatt for his career. He lost their first two meetings, but then Don won six of the next eight games. Between 2015-2017, he struggled against Jeff, losing three straight, earning weekly low scores in two of those three games. However, despite struggling to make the playoffs since the 2018 season, Don is 6-2 against Jeff over the past six years, with a pair of three-game winning streaks.
#2 Eric Vozzola – Don is 18-13 against his own son. The 18 career victories against Eric are the most he has over one team. They both joined back in 2001 and Don won their first three, before dropping their next three. However, between 2004-2006, they would face off six times and Don would win all six games to take a 8-3 record through 11 games. However, since 2007, the two have evenly split their next 20 games. Don had a pair of 3-game winning streaks in 2009-2011 and 2019-2021, but he’s now dropped three straight to Eric since 2022.
#1 Richard Burrier – Don has a .607 winning percentage over Burrier (17-11), which is his best record against anyone. Early on, Burrier had the advantage. He won three of their first four meetings and through 2014, Richard led the series, 9-6, which included a 2011 semifinals victory. However, from 2015-2022, Don proceeded to beat Burrier in 10 straight games (tied for the longest win streak by one team over another). During that 10-game streak, Burrier scored under 1,000 six times (all six proved to be a weekly low scores). However, Rich broke that streak in 2022 and he split their two meetings last year.
LEAST FAVORITE FOE
There are a few folks Don would rather not see. He’s just 11-16 against Calderon, having dropped six of their last seven. Don is just 8-15 against Colby, having dropped three straight. Don has 20 career loses to two teams (the only person to lay that claim). He’s 11-20 against me, despite once winning seven straight against me (2005-2009), which included two championship game victories. The reason being is Don has now dropped 10 straight to me, which is tied for the longest streak in league history and that streak is current, so he could break that record in 2024 by losing an 11th straight game to me.
Yet, we haven’t even named Don’s worst foe. He is Bob Castrone. Don is just 8-20 against Bob (.286 winning percentage). Things started off poor, as Don dropped their first two and four of their first five, before winning back-to-back contests in 2006 and 2007 (the former being the 2006 semifinals). However, between 2009-2019, Don would lose 13 of 14 games to Bob (his one win was a 72-point victory in 2012). However, starting into 2019, Don took back-to-back games for the first time in 13 years in 2018-2019, before dropping three straight. However, he swept Bob in two games last season.
FAVORITE POSTSEASON OPPONENT
Don only has a winning record against one current opponent. He’s 1-0 against Colby, beating him in the 2018 quarterfinals, but one game isn’t a resume. So, his favorite postseason foe remains me. Overall, he’s 2-2 against the commish, but as we all already know, those two wins came in the 2006 and 2008 title games. Since then, Don lost to me in the 2010 semifinals and the 2016 quarterfinals.
LEAST FAVORITE POSTSEASON OPPONENT
It’s hard to say one person is his least favorite. He’s neve beaten Masterson, Burrier or Matt in the playoffs, but he’s only faced each once. He’s never faced Griff, Eric or Michael in the playoffs. So, let’s go with Calderon. He actually has two wins against Rich (2008, 2010). In both cases, Don was the 7-seed and he upset the 2-seed in the quarterfinals. However, he’s also lost to Rich three times (the most by one opponent). One of those times Don was the two-seed who lost to the 7-seed Calderon in the quarterfinals (2007) and once was in the semifinals where Don scored 1,602, but lost by 76 points.
LONGEST WINNING STREAKS
Don has three career 5-game winning streaks over an opponent, which includes Eric (2004-2006), Masterson (2003-2008) and Calderon (2008-2011). He beaten me seven straight times (2005-2009), but that 10-game winning streak over Burrier (2015-2022) remains his longest ever.
LONGEST LOSING STREAKS
Don lost to Calderon in their first seven meetings (2003-2008), which is the longest losing streak to begin a series against an opponent. He also dropped eight straight to Bob (2012-2018). Yet, the current 10-game slide to me his Don’s longest. One more and it’s the longest in the league’s history (currently tied).
