CAREER RANKINGS: #7 MICHAEL EVANGELIST

MICHAEL EVANGELIST
Est. 2019

LAST SEASON

No one comes out of the gate like Evangelist. He began his career with back-to-back 4-0 starts. In 2022, he was 5-2 through seven. In 2023, he rolled to a third 4-0 start that turned into a 5-0 beginning to the season. The question is, would he struggle down the stretch again? Well, a little. He would only win three of his final nine games, thanks to three 2-game losing streaks. He was still scoring though and would end up second in scoring behind Colby. As the three-seed, he rolled through me and scored over 1,500 for a second straight playoff game in a win over 4-seed Jeff. In the finals, he was facing the mighty defending champ. He kept it close, but it wasn’t enough. He fell in the title game, 1,508 – 1,408.

CAREER

In five season, Michael has proven to be a problem for the rest of the league. He’s produced four winning seasons and four playoff trips, which could have been five if he just paid attention to his lineup in the final week of 2021. In five year’s he’s never failed to average over 1,300 per game and twice has earned a three-seed. Sure, it took him four tries to win a playoff game, but he did reach the finals in just his fifth season.

Overall, Michael is 41-32. His .562 winning percentage is the third best in the league. Officially, his 1,375 points per game is the highest average in league history, but the reality is, he has benefitted having only played in the era of scoring. As proof, he’s finished among the top-five in scoring just once in five season. Want more proof? His foes have averaged 1,351 points per game, which is the most among active teams, but he’s never finished in the bottom three in opponents’ points in any season.

MORE FUN WITH STATS

His average finish in the standings is 5.20, which is the third best percentage. His average finish in points is 6.20, which is seventh best.

Again, he’s made it to the playoffs in 80% of his season (4 out of 5), which is the third best percentage. Overall, he’s 2-3 in the playoffs, with both victories coming this season. He is one of two people to never win a title, he’s the only person to never earn a top seed and he’s one of four people to never earn a scoring crown. But again, he’s been on this ride for just five seasons. Many of you didn’t have these honors after your first five years.

He has failed to top 1,000 in 10.96% of his contests, which is the fourth most. He has scored over 1,500 in 28.77%, which is the 5th most. Meanwhile, his opponents have scored over 1,500 in 28.77% his games. That average is the most among active teams. His foes only fail to hit 1,000 in 12.33%, which is the fourth most.

Michael has only produced four weekly high scores in five seasons. The 5.88% average is tied for 10th. He has scored a weekly low score in 7.35% of his games. That’s the 7th most. He’s only faced a weekly high score three times. That 4.41% average is the lowest in the league. His foes deliver a weekly low in 8.82% of his games, which is the 6th most.

When it comes to impressive streaks, Michael hasn’t done too much yet. He hasn’t won six in a row ever, but he did score over 1,250 in 10 straight games, which is tied for 12th longest.

As for single game records, not a lot there either. He was involved in the 18th and 22nd highest combined scores in league history. In 2023, he and Masterson combined for 3,668 points in a game Mike won, 2,027-1,641. That was the first time Michael cracked 2,000. His 2,027 is tied for the 56th most points ever scored in a game.

On the flip side, Michael beat Jeff in 2022, 797-752. The 1,549 combined points is the 16th lowest scored in a game by two teams. It was just the 7th time in league history both teams in a game failed to top 800.
