There was a more innocent time in this league. A time when Calderon was this cute little team that never managed to win any championships. A squad that made losing as a 2-seed in the quarterfinals their own thing (2008, 2010 and 2012). Yet, that team is no more.
Instead, Calderon has become one of the most consistent winners this league has to offer. Prior to the 2012 season, Rich was decent. He made it to the playoffs in six of nine seasons, twice winning a division, three times winning nine regular season games in a year.
However, since 2012, he’s really established a foothold in the winning column. He’s produced three 10-win seasons over the last six years, making it to the playoffs in five of the last six seasons (finishing 9th the one year he missed the show). Sure, he’s still just 4-5 in the quarterfinals (2-4 as the higher seed), but three straight victories in the semifinals have placed him in three of the last six title games, where he has earned two championships (2013, 2016). If only he could return back to the playoffs in his league.
